From May 19 to 21, the second edition of the Socrates Seminar on Societal & Democratic Resilience took place in Chișinău, organized in partnership with the Aspen Institute Socrates Program, with support from partner organizations: the NATO Liaison Office in the Republic of Moldova, Konrad Adenauer Foundation Moldova, Victoriabank, Premier Energy Moldova, and the Foreign Policy Association (APE).
Over the course of three days, 27 participants representing various sectors of Moldovan society – including policymakers, private sector leaders, and civil society representatives – actively engaged in seminar sessions focused on exploring how the Republic of Moldova can enhance its societal and democratic resilience while advancing on the path of European integration. Participants shared views, exchanged ideas, and discussed ways to identify optimal solutions. The seminar sessions were moderated by Radu Puchiu, Co-Founder and CEO of H.appy Cities, within the Socrates Program.
As a forum for leaders from different professions to meet and explore contemporary issues through dialogue moderated by experienced experts, the Aspen Institute Socrates Program offers participants the opportunity to join a broad professional network and take part in various Aspen Institute initiatives. This platform serves as a valuable opportunity for professional development and career advancement for each participant.
An Aspen Cocktail Reception was also held, bringing together leadership program alumni and partners from our extended community in Moldova. More than 40 participants attended the event, which provided a friendly and informal setting for networking, fostering open dialogue, and exchanging ideas among young leaders. The event was part of the wider set of initiatives launched following the opening of the Aspen Romania office in Chișinău in September 2023.
