Intrenational Report: Moldovans hit the polls after 20 years

112

Moldovans went to the polls on Sunday for the first time in 20 years to participate in the country’s presidential elections. Out of nine candidates’ the two favourites had made it into the second round: the pro-Russian socialist Igor Dodon and Maia Sandu, an anti-corruption and pro-European candidate.

With many issues at stake and no winner emerging over the weekend, a second round runoff will now be held in two weeks time with young and old hoping to make the right decision for the next four years. Filip Warwick reports from Chisinau.
